Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi VENTS, thanks for having us! We’re doing amazing.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “American Icon”?

Our song “American Icon” is a rock anthem that celebrates people of all walks of life. It is a call to action for the people who are so unapologetically themselves that they can’t help but be noticed. The message of our song is universal— you can’t stop us, we’re different, and that’s what makes us icons. We truly believe that everyone is an icon in their own beautiful way.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Growing up, we didn’t have enough LGBT role models in the media to look up to. That’s why writing this song was so important to us. “American Icon” was written to inspire people of all types to proudly flaunt their best and unique selves in a world where others shame them for it.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

The filming process was super easy because we didn’t film anything! Our lyric video was brought to life by the amazing Renzo Novelli and his team. They were able to take our song and capture our bold message that we want to share with the world.

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process came in a burst of inspiration after we were talking and the words “American icon” were brought up. The words had such power to it that we knew we had to write a song with that as its title. After a few days the song was written and we workshopped it for a few audiences; by the way people responded, we knew this song was something special.

What was it like to work with JC Losada and how did that relationship develop?

We met JC Losada through a mutual friend and we immediately hit it off. We played an acoustic version of the song for him and he was hooked. After performing for him, JC couldn’t stop praising and singing the song and we knew by his passion that we were in good hands. We started recording with him in his studio at Carnegie Hall Tower soon after and he’s been a dream to work with!

How much did he get to influence the song?

The only thing JC had to go off of was our acoustic performance in his studio when we met and our musical influences. When we came back, our expectations were blown away with a stadium rock anthem of our wildest dreams. The whole process has been extremely collaborative. With so many first producer horror stories, we were so lucky.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

Before we met, both of us were solo artists in different entertainment genres – Greg was pursuing musical theatre and Brendan was performing as a singer-songwriter around NYC. Working together, we draw from both our backgrounds to create our Fab sound. We both have different strengths; while Brendan writes most of the music and lyrics, Greg arranges the songs into something bigger.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, it does. You can definitely expect some new material in the near future!  We are already back in the studio working on our next song.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Nothing is set in stone yet, but keep an eye out late summer/early fall.

Any plans to hit the road?

We’d love to! We have some things in the works, but right now we’re focusing on the next single and upcoming shows here in NYC.

What else is happening next in Fab The Duo’s World?

Besides the next single, we are having an epic single release show on June 20th at the legendary Cutting Room at 10pm. You can stay up to date on all things Fab by following us on all socials @fabtheduo and by going to our website www.fabtheduo.com
