With Nigel Tay’s refreshing adaptation of Jay Chou’s “Tornado”, the Chinese music instrument pioneer Lava Guitar launched its new creation “Lava Me Guitar 2”.
Much like Nigel Tay, LAVA Music emerged in the public eye in the early 2010’s, and has proved to be the black horse of the music instrument industry. 2018 marked the fourth year in a row where LAVA guitar topped the sales chart of music instruments at the Double 11 Shopping Festival, the biggest shopping festival in the world.
How did LAVA Music, one of the many start-ups in the 2010s, become the Apple of music instruments?
The answer is working with artists that are young and vibrant, much like Lava Music itself.
Nigel Tay became a nationwide sensation in Season 5 of “Sing! China” in 2018 where he ranked top 7. But Nigel actually first gained notoriety when he was a student at Berklee. His adaptation of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” attracted praise from the artist herself, calling the performance “stunning”. The performance has since been streamed on Buzzfeed (https://www.buzzfeed.com/samstryker/taylor-swift-medley) and highlighted on Entertainment Weekly (https://ew.com/article/2016/01/13/taylor-swift-wildest-dreams-bad-blood-cover/).
The music video is also joined by Chinese-American female director Rachel Zhou and award winning editor Yimin Gu. The talent and passion of these exciting young artists reflect those of LAVA music, who has revolutionized the production and marketing of guitars. They are the ones to watch in the future, and so is LAVA Music.
Head Honcho, Editor in Chief and writer here on VENTS. I don't like walking on the beach, but I love playing the guitar and geeking out about music. I am also a movie maniac and 6 hours sleeper.
