INTERVIEW: U.S pop singer Royse

Hi Royse, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! Thank you so much for having me on here. I have been super busy lately, creating lots of new music, traveling on a fun tour with High School Nation while growing emotionally and spiritually as well!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “If I Loved You”?

Of course! “If I Loved You” is a song that has so much meaning to it. I love love. Love is amazing, and I always think to myself, how can I describe love and I’m like you can’t! It’s so big! It’s more than we can imagine. And the love you have between a friend or a family member or a boyfriend or a girlfriend- its mind blowing. So when I was writing, I was trying to write from that perspective as well as the perspective of I’ve never really allowed myself to fall head over heals in love, so what if I did? What if I did fall in love? Then that mindset created “If I Loved You.”

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Something definitely inspired it. There was this guy I connected with, and I was like, wow! What if I  was able to fall in love with him? What if I actually went there?but then nothing happened hahah, but it taught me to be open to love.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I just released a fun lyric video for the video. I flew to Utah in the US and drove from Utah to Los Angeles and stopped at places along the way to make the video! It was such an amazing experience.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was really fun! I wrote this song with Brandon Colbein and that was a wonderful experience. He is an amazing writer who can tap into feelings and make beautiful melodies out of them. I recorded this song at Adrian Gurvitz studio, who is a legend, and getting that old school legendary knowledge is so meaningful to me.

What role does LA play in your music?

Music is everywhere in LA, and the city inspires me everywhere walk! I am always constantly trying to push my songs and be a dreamer and a believer in them, and I have LA to thank for that.

What made you want to tackle  the dark aspect of love?

I think we’ve all been there. These are real feelings and emotions that we all have but get scared to talk about. I always want to be someone who is real and raw with people. If I can give anything to anyone its for you to know you’re not alone in what your walking in. Feeling alone is the actual worst.

Was it easy for you to deep dive into this topic?

I think there’s always walls in being real and talking/singing about something that you feel deeply, but the best and most amazing moments are when you push past that wall and see something beautiful come out of it.

Does the new single mean we can expect new album material – how’s that coming along?

Hopefully soon! I have a bunch of music finished and a ton of songs I want to share with you all.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Not quite but I can give you a hint at what the next single will be about…It has to do with being Royal!

Any plans to hit the road?

YES! I want to go on the road. There’s nothing I love more than performing live! I love people, so getting to sing with people makes me so happy!

What else is happening next in Royse’s world?

I’m working on some upcoming stuff so hopefully soon I can release even more music!
