Soda Blonde is the new musical project of Dublin artists Faye O’Rourke, Adam O’Regan, Donagh Seaver O’Leary and Dylan Lynch, formerly of internationally acclaimed band Little Green Cars.
Taking on a whole new sound, the band has returned with their debut single “Swimming Through The Night,” a song written by O’Rourke throughout her early 20s, where she has honed in on her unique lyrical style of gritty kitchen-sink realism, that evokes the tragic beauty of Karen Carpenter and the pop sensibilities of Annie Lennox.
“The story of this song began a few years back during a writing session in Wexford. It was written originally as a ballad by Faye in about 25 minutes. We all connected with it instantly and it became a something of a spearhead for our new project, Soda Blonde. The song changed shape several times over the past few years. It took us a long time to figure out how to perform it together. It wasn’t until we arrived at Fred & Nancy’s place that things started to reveal themselves. It was there, in a kitchen on Killiney beach, where we finally heard where the song wanted to go,” comments the band.
Head Honcho, Editor in Chief and writer here on VENTS. I don't like walking on the beach, but I love playing the guitar and geeking out about music. I am also a movie maniac and 6 hours sleeper.
