Hi Nic, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Amazing!!  I’ve been very busy with my music, which is AWESOME!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Miami”?

It’s all about encouraging a friend, beautiful girl of course, to live life to the fullest by putting her routine aside for a day or two and coming with me on an exciting adventure, if you will. Take a listen!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I was on a writing retreat in Miami, and the local festive and lively scene outside my balcony really inspired it’s birth.  The song is about taking a girl away from her normal element of routine boredom, and monotony.  I am taking her (and all my fans and listeners) to a place where they can live life to the fullest.

The single comes off your new album Welcome to the Mind of a Teenage Boy – what’s the story behind the title?

It’s a thematic story about relatability, authenticity, and encouragement.  It really depicts a typical journey of the teenage mind and opens the door for encouragement (to really live life to the fullest).

How was the recording and writing process for this album?

It started in Miami for two of the songs.  The third song, “Somewhere In The Middle” was written in London, England!  I wrote and recorded the song at the legendary and iconic studio Abbey Road.  It was the most unique and appropriate spot to record this song.  The last song, “H&H” was written around 3am after being stood up on a date.

What aspect of youth and teenage life did you get to explore on this record?

Uncertainty and fear initially, then I inserted confidence and assurance as an antidote.  My brand is all about encouraging my fans to live life to the fullest by having the courage to chase their dreams despite the “dream killers” that might surround them.

How much of yourself did you get to open up about on this album?

More so than ever before … authenticity is a big deal for me.  This series of songs depicts the “Mind of a Teenage Boy” fairly well.  It’s my first EP that I am releasing worldwide.  All four songs are on theme and follow a sequence that really depicts the Mind of a Teenage Boy.

Where else did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Initially on my writing retreat in Miami, which is where I established the theme for the EP.  After Miami, London and Abbey Road played a big inspiration for the third song and a situation in my very own hometown heavily influenced the last song on the EP, “H&H” (which is sure to be a fan favorite!).

Any plans to hit the road this year?

Absolutely, the first show is around the corner … NEXT THURSDAY June 6th at The Social in downtown Orlando.  We are also coordinating touring plans with several booking agents for the Southeast region of the U.S. for both Summer and Fall.  Stay tuned on mays social media (Instagram – @nichowellmusic), website, and Spotify page for more details.

What else is happening next in Nic Howell’s world?
