PREMIERE: The School Book Depository Releases “California”

Keeping up with our premiere week, we are teaming up with Dutch incredible artist The School Book Depository for the release of his new single “California,” a really catchy pop-gem with harmonious vocals and growing arrangements worthy the warm. The song is a nostalgic, retrospective review of a romanticized slacker lifestyle set in a sunny California on winding highways, beneath swaying palm trees.

But the single is also a sober conclusion that everything changes when our youthful dreams get interrupted by all the mundane activities of our adult, everyday life.

California The School Book Depository

The song is a continuation of the song California by Wagon, Fredrik’s first band, released about 20 years ago. That song was sort of a semi-hit in some indie circles in Sweden at that time.

”I thought it would be fun to continue a fictional story written 20 years ago. It’s like archeological mind searching. What happened to the characters and how do I review my dreams and fantasies now compared to then? That old song also had a lot of pop cultural references and I liked the idea of bringing them back again from another perspective.”

The single will be followed by the second album from The School Book Depository this summer.
