Charlie Straw Releases “Broken Paradise”

Charlie Straw is an artist whose musical ability is matched only by his storytelling ability, and undeniable work ethic.

Originally from The Wirral, Charlie is all about telling stories through his music and he’s got plenty to recall. Whether it’s his time recording music in a basement in Thailand, or the time he spent 30 days playing a show every night, sleeping on sofa’s up and down the UK. In the age of the internet artist, Charlie places real value in the personal, experiencing all he can first hand. Living as a working musician and a designer, has given Charlie a heightened appreciation for the visual element of his campaign and therefore, the visual aesthetic that underlines all of Charlie’s work, is his own creative vision.

It’s this hard-working attitude and undeniable songwriting prowess, that’s seen him sell out three London headline shows. He’s performed at Citadel, Wilderness and The Great Escape, as well as supporting James Bay, Marika Hackman, Nathaniel Rateliff & James Morrison.

Charlie kicked off 2019 with the anthemic, uplifting single “Light Up For Me”. The track marked a change in direction and outlook for Charlie that was well received, with support on New Music Friday and a plateau of tastemaker blogs. Now, he’s developing his sound further with the sun-drenched, indie-pop vibe on “Broken Paradise”. There’s an irresistible juxtaposition in the uplifting, beachy production and the sombre lyrical content. On the new single, Charlie states:

“I made this video as a tribute to the amazing support I have around me. I get so much encouragement from fans, friends and family; so for this video I asked them to be a part of it. I reached out to people who have uploaded videos of me playing live and friends who have taken funny videos and asked if I could include them in the music video. I really wanted it to be a celebration of everyone who has helped me get to this point. I’m just annoyed I missed a few camera-shy people out!”
