INTERVIEW: Mark Calderon

Hi Mark, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been good, staying busy out here on the road doing Color Me Badd shows. Still learning about social media lol and enjoying all the fans liking my new single “It’s Like Good Sex”

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “It’s Like Good Sex“?

Absolutely!

My new song was inspired by a groove that I heard coming from a hotel bar and grill as I was walking past headed to my room and a melody and had come to me passing by and I immediately took out my phone and started recording the melody….. I went up to my hotel room and started working on the song. So eventually I ended up co-producing the song with Todd Nystrom and co-writing with Isaiah Pittman V. The meaning behind “It’s Like Good Sex” is a reference to good music…. Music touches people in different ways and that was the vibe I was feeling when writing the song. Music can be spiritual in a lot of ways it can take you down memory lane it can give you good and bad feelings music is so powerful.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No, it was time for me to branch off and do my own thing sometimes you get this feeling inside that tells you that you need to go in a new direction it was just a gut feeling saying it’s time to move on.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Absolutely! I’ll be shooting a video next week and I’m extremely excited about it….

Would you call this a departure from your previous work?

No, because I can only write one way I can write different styles of music and I love trying new things but I can only go off by what I feel inside my soul at that time. So I use the exact same approach now as I did in the past.

Has it be easier for you to dive into much riskier direction?

No, not at all, I like taking risks that’s what life is all about you never fail you only learn from it. Never be afraid to try new things.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

I would love to collaborate with other artists I’m looking forward to that. The way I would approach it is just to have fun and if you’re enjoying yourself and feeling good about it then so will others.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes from here on out as long as I’m having fun I will always be dropping new music that’s one of the best parts about this is being able to create freely and sharing what God has put inside you.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

My second single will be called Summer Life and I’m hoping to drop it at the top of July.

Any plans to hit the road?

Absolutely I’ll never stop performing. I just about live on the road right now.

What else is happening next in Mark Calderon’s world?

Just having the time of my life! Look out for new music and catch up with me  at
