whenyoung Drop New Single “The Others.” Debut album ‘Reasons to Dream’ Out May 24

London’s (via Limerick) premiere indie songsmiths, whenyoung will release their debut album, Reasons to Dream, through Virgin EMI on May 24. Today they share the emotive new single “The Others.” The single was written after the Grenfell Tower fire in London. At this time the band’s Aoife Powers was working for a gardening company that served clients in this area, some of whom were influential politicians. The juxtaposition between the safe homes of these politicians and the burning towerblock streets away were startling and upsetting. Living in safety should not be a luxury.” Watch the video, directed by Fiona Burgess, here

The culmination of years of playing and writing together, Reasons to Dream showcases Aoife Power’s (bass/vocals), Niall Burns’ (guitar) and Andrew Flood’s (Drums) ability to craft spikey yet melodic songs which delve lyrically into everything from love and insecurities to pacificism and the gap between the haves and have-nots in Britain today.

The album also features previously released singles “Pretty Pure” and the anthemic “Never Let Go.

The album marks the next milestone in a journey that started for the band when they first met as teenagers in Limerick, Ireland. They eventually all found themselves in London and the band that was to become whenyoung was formed, inspired by a healthy mix of the music they all loved and their favorite classic cinema and literature.
