Hi Laela, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi, thank you for having me. I’ve been great!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “I Believe In You”?

“I Believe in You” is one of my most personal songs I have written. I wanted to create a song that people could relate to. We are living in a time now where we seem to think that social media is a measure of our self worth. Your true worth is not defined by likes and comments but by how you see yourself through your own eyes. Believe in yourself even if it feels like no one else does. I hope this song will help my fans realize that.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

It was a combination of things. I started writing this song over two years ago but never finished it. The song kind of just sat in my collection for a while. For a few months last year, I was going through a rough patch. I couldn’t even fully understand what was going on with me. I remember sitting down at the piano one night, playing this song and just bawling my eyes out. That’s when it hit me that I needed to finish this song and get it out to my fans. I wanted to create something that they could listen to and feel empowered by.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! I really want to make this video special. My team & I have plans to start a crowdfunding campaign to help cover some of the costs to create the video .

What role does Philadelphia play in your music?

I grew up right outside of Philadelphia in the suburbs. I spent a lot of my early teen years in and out of the city playing gigs at different music venues and restaurants. I am so thankful for all the Philly creators and supporters I have met along the way and for the opportunities the city has given me.

As your music keeps gaining more and more momentum – do you feel any pressure as you release new material?

I try not to. Once you start putting pressure on yourself, you limit your true creative abilities. I have been taught that you can not force creativity and good music. It’s all about a vibe.

Does the new single mean we can expect any new material – how’s that coming along?

It does! I am super excited because a lot of new things are in the works right now. I am not trying to rush anything. I want to make sure I am only releasing material I am proud of.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Maybe… but I can’t spill the beans just yet!

Any plans to hit the road?

My team & I are working on getting those details together now! I can’t wait to see you all!
