Born Stranger Release “Like I Mean It”

Initially a duo, 2018 saw the superlative pop act Born Stranger be solely defined by David Maddox-Jones, who took the reins solo. With his soulful vocal, stellar songwriting prowess, and a sound characterised by an irrefutably infectious groove, Maddox continues to push his musical boundaries with his forward-thinking vision of pop mastery.

Signing to Radikal Records (Salt Ashes, Nelly Furtado) last summer, Born Stranger returns once again to stake his claim as a pop powerhouse, keeping the hits flowing beyond the releases of Last Night On Earth and his cover of the classic The Beloved track, Sweet Harmony late last year.

Working closely with future pop artist ADAL, they forge a refreshing and mutual sonic depth that compliments each other’s strengths and pulls influence from a mutual love for Rüfüs Du Sol and brings attention to the pretence and toxicity of modern culture.

Speaking to the motivation behind Like I Mean It, Born Stranger shares:

The song is about being honest in a dishonest world. We are constantly encouraged to paint the ideal picture of our lives – to put everything through a filter and pretend we are having an amazing time nonstop – that’s not reality, it’s time to get real.
