Johari Noelle Presents New Single / Video, “Too Much”

Johari Noelle today presents new song/video “Too Much,” the second single taken from the Southside Chicago-based songwriter and singer’s forthcoming debut EP, Things You Can’t Say Out Loud, out May 31st. “There are times in life where our patience is tried and our souls are damaged by our negative encounters with others,” says Noelle. “We often run from what has damaged us. We stand guarded, sometimes paralyzed from not moving on. We hide from it hoping that it will heal us. This is a song to embrace all stages of the healing process.”

Derived from candid conversations with herself about the things in life that are not so easily digestible, Things You Can’t Say Out Loud is an internal dialogue set to music. Eschewing the refrain du jour, Noelle trades the easy tropes of objectification, self-indulgence and gross materialism for introspection, complex emotion and the labor –– not just the romance –– endemic to the act of love. Her writing champions sisterhood and chronicles her life as a woman climbing the ladder in the music industry. It’s a nuanced and challenging sound reflective of the careful thought, generosity of spirit and abiding compassion she applies to personal relationships. More importantly, by setting her own internal dialogue to music she realizes her own freedom and is empowered to set others free.

Buoyed by an angelic voice with a distinctively smoky bottom register, Noelle distinguishes herself with a clarity of thought that cuts through lush arrangements to capture and ultimately translate hearts. In 2015, she joined the cast of the BET docu-series Chasing Destiny, the national talent search which found Noelle mentored by singer Kelly Rowland (of Destiny’s Child) and famed choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. Her creative resume has since grown to include acting credits on the hit FOX television series Empire and Proven Innocent and the React II campaign from NIKE, Inc.

For those in the Chicagoland area, Noelle will celebrate the release of Things You Can’t Say Out Loud with a show on Wed. June 5th at The Promontory. Tickets are on-sale now and available here.
