INTERVIEW: Emme Lentino

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Lost and Found”?

It is a song about finding love again. It’s my from my latest EP, Love.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

A few years ago, before I moved to New Zealand, I went through a challenging time, I was actually living in my car. One day, while singing outside a movie theatre, I met a woman who was really appreciative of my music. She who told me she had met her husband in their late 60’s. After both losing their spouses. I remember feeling inspired by her story. The way her face lit up as she talked about finding love again…years later, I could relate to this story on a personal basis. I’m touched that people listening to the song who may be on a similar journey have found encouragement in the message.

Any plans to release a video for the single:

I am in the process of looking at various storyboards and then will commence production. Stay tuned😉

How was the recording and writing process?

This song has had such a beautiful journey- from its inception at the studio till now. The synergy and energy between myself and co-writer Seidah Garrett as well as my producers has been amazing. The camaraderie and fun is something that really is so special for me. I continue to work with both producers and I’m excited to say I am collaborating with Siedah again this week!

What role does New Zealand play in your music?

Nature feeds my soul and creativity. I love getting out near the water and writing music. I feel a true sense of peace and contentment. New Zealand countryside was just a perfect backdrop for one of my music videos, “Shine.”

How would you say your American roots gets to influence your writing?

Growing up in Oregon, I absorbed all genres of music, I was taken in by the rich melodies and lyrics. Which led me to write my first song when I was ten years old. As a teenager I travelled with a band and theatre groups all over the states which further influenced my writing style.

How do you go on balancing all your different influences and tastes together?

What I love about music is that it’s a universal language that brings people together. I am always writing and singing music that resonates with my heart.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I have been busy writing new music. I’m really excited to be back in the studio right now! I cannot wait to share these new songs with my listeners. Woohoo! Can you picture me doing the happy dance?! 😉

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I have a USA summer release coming out and a collection of Holiday songs that will be available later this year.

Any plans to hit the road?

I would love to, I’ve gotten requests for shows in various cities, along with flying to Canada to record, so that’s keeping me busy. Plans are being made for multi-city tour in the near furture.

What else is happening next in Emme Lentino’s world?

I really love encouraging and inspiring others!

I will continue my charity work as a Princess and fairytale characters for kids parties and events, which is so much fun! I am the featured artist for “Heart of Indie Radio”, a station that is doing amazing things to help children in so many ways. I am honoured to partner with them. I’ll announce some more exciting news later this year!
