Las Vegas is the gambling capital of North America, perhaps the entire world. The “Sin City” was built on gambling and entertainment… but mostly gambling – it probably has the highest density of casinos in the entire world. But its fame as a gambling outlet is fading – casinos have emerged in pretty much every state in the US, both tribal and commercial ones, and online gambling has also set foot in the USA not long ago. The majority of online casinos listed by Gambling Insider may not be officially accessible for US residents but they provide a viable alternative to Canadians, many of whom often visit Vegas for a night out having fun and gambling.
As the number of gamblers visiting Sin City has decreased, the city has shifted from a place offering gambling and entertainment to one offering entertainment and gambling. The shows of world-class stars are still among the main attractions the city has to offer – and starting next year, the list of high-profile singers with a residency in Las Vegas will be strengthened by legendary actor, singer, songwriter, and musician, Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known by his stage name Sting.
Sting will bring his show “Sting: My Songs” to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace beginning May 22th, 2020. This will be the first in a series of sixteen shows he’ll perform across the following months. “Visually, sound-wise, dancing” it’s going to be a Vegas show. I’m really committed to that,” Sting told the Associated Press. “I am a little frightened and a little excited at the same time.”
This is not the first time Sting has been offered a residency in Las Vegas but it’s the first offer he accepted. “I always thought, I’m not quite ready for that. I’m still a touring animal” he said. “(Now) I’m ready”, he went on, revealing how staying in one place for a longer time is not something he is used to but he is ready to “welcome people in his house”. “I’ll be telling the story of my life through songs. I’ve had a long, interesting life and I can’t wait,” he said.
Sting was one of the founding members of The Police, a British rock band that debuted in 1977. He was the lead vocalist, bassist, and the primary songwriter of the brand until it disbanded in 1986. Sting released his first solo album, “The Dream of the Blue Turtles”, in 1985 that was successful, receiving a Grammy nomination and was certified triple platinum in the US, selling more than 3 million copies. Since then, Sting won 25 American Music Awards, 17 Grammy Awards, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
