PREMIERE: SF’s Bob Hillman Releases New Animated Video For “I’m In Love With You”

Bob Hillman has returned with the release of his new single “I’m in Love With You” — taken from his just-released album Some of Us Are Free, Some of Us Are Lost?

Hillman, respected for his literate and melodic songwriting since the late 90s, returns to explore marriage, addiction, and death but also dive into unconventional topics such as surfing, the singer David Crosby, and the short-story writer Raymond Carver.  Hillman enlisted the help of Neuroplastic Studios to create an animated narrative that effectively accentuates his whimsical side.

Says Hillman: “After featuring myself in two “official videos” for songs from my last album (Lost Soul), and two from my new one (Some of Us Are Free, Some of Us Are Lost), I was ready to try something different. I’m In Love With You seemed like an opportunity to stretch, given the subject matter and musical setting, both of which are relentlessly upbeat; that and the simple plot suggested animation.”

The album, his fifth, was recorded in Southern California at Boulevard Recording and 64 Sound with the help of producer Jonny Flaugher (Ryan Adams, The Weepies), mixing engineer Ethan Allen, a Daniel Lanois protégé and a cast of top notch players.  It’s the follow-up to 2016’s Lost Soul which was produced by Peter Case and featured Joseph Arthur.  Some of Us Are Free, Some of Us Are Lost was released digitally and on CD on April 5.
