Icy Lando (Victor Buyuka) is a 26 year old rapper, singer and producer from Nairobi, Kenya, he grew up in one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in his country, meaning Icy grew up appreciating what most of us would take for granted.
With a passion for music, inspired by his sister who performed in an RnB group Icy joined his high school choir becoming a member of the annual Kenyan music festivals where he was lead vocalist in the Kenyan boys choir where he has performed alongside Nelly Furtado, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. The choir became one of the countries most successful groups and were invited to perform at the inauguration of US President Barack Obama.
Icy is now ready to show the rest of the world what he is capable of as a solo artist, not one to shy away from a challenge, his new material marks a shift from his choir days, teaming up with UK producer N-Geezy and Billboard Hot 100 producer Mike Gonsolin, his latest offering Way Up was recorded at Trend Def Studios in LA and features Australian pop singer Sire on the chorus.
“Way Up” is a hook-driven piece of RnB with an old school flavour, Icy takes influence from UK Grime, old school Hip-Hop and his Kenyan heritage, speaking on the release Icy says Way Up is a sexy, feel good type of song. A club banger. I grew up and still listen to Chris Brown and in recent years became a Tory Lanez fan and my music portrays their kind of vibe. I always want to be different in what I do and if you listen to the music that is done in Africa or in Kenya, none of them do what I do.
