Wonderfuzz has cut their teeth for years studying multiple styles of rock & roll and rhythm & blues both retro and modern, grinding away as a cover band. In 2018, Wonderfuzz embarked on the journey of producing original material — comprised of some of Kansas City’s most accomplished rockers (a few of whom are members of Vents-featured band The Slowdown), Wonderfuzz’ members are no strangers to penning captivating and ass-shaking tracks of their own. Wonderfuzz crafted a varied and entertaining debut album, Get There, featuring four singles: the 70s dance flare of “Headhunter,” the retroactive rocker “Leaving Town,” the Beatles-esque “We Follow the Hawk,” and the epic and emotional title track “Get There.”
The band had this to say about title track “Get There”:
The song is largely inspired musically by the 70s rock gods like The Who — the big guitars and drums with the group vocals and the pulsating synth in the bridge and the rock and roll light show. We went for a classic and romantic feel for the song and video, elegant and simple, to focus on the raw emotional qualities — familiar yet compelling. “Get There” is about accepting the struggles that life inevitably brings. The lyrics were inspired from a broken relationship and its emotional aftermath. Time is the only thing that heals it… ya get there when ya get there.
