Milwaukee based producer Spencer Mutsch, aka Crystal Knives is back with his latest tune on Elysian Records. Combining his own understanding of jazz with Eru Matsumoto’s abilities on cello and Sarah de Warren’s magical vocals, Crystal Knives is back with “When I’m Okay”.
Coincidental meetings on the same day between Mutsch first with Sarah de Warren and then with Matsumoto resulted in the birth of “When I’m Okay.” While the meetings were intended to be for entirely separate purposes, they resulted in individual collaborative sessions that fatefully resulted in a “When I’m Okay” becoming a collaboration between the three of them. “The way this song came together was pretty wild – I actually met both Sarah and Eru on the same day, about an hour apart, for two totally different reasons, and the project ended up coming together so naturally that it almost felt like fate.” – Crystal Knives “I was in LA over the summer and me and Spencer ended up planning a last minute session. We were talking about Prometheus and after reading up on his story, we threw around some lyric ideas and knew it’d make a sick song. This is about somebody building you into who you are, but bringing all this darkness into the relationship through control and mind games. Our twist on the story is more empowering though, as she’s saying it’ll be over soon, and she will be okay without him.” – Sarah De Warren Sarah Warren has lent her voice to numerous electronic musicians, and has proven herself as a go to choice among producers for their vocal toplines. Meanwhile, live instruments making their way into electronic productions has become more and more common over the last few years, and Eru Matsumoto incorporates her talents on the track in stunning fashion. “When I’m Okay” showcases the magic that can happen when multiple talented minds bring their gifts together to create one incredible piece of music.
