As we kick off another premiere week, and another month, we are teaming up with Sailors & Ships for the release of his new single “Rooftop Sleeper,” a minimalistic song that sounds pretty upbeat and joyful despite its dark lyrics.
About the song, Wheatley comments:
“I had the music for Rooftop Sleeper for a long time before the lyrics took hold. If you asked me what it was about just after it was finished, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you…I was just trying to do something interesting with the verses. Now when I listen to it, it’s obvious to me that it’s a song about my anxiety disorder. “I’ve got shivers like a rooftop sleeper – I feel cold as a northern lake – How could fear ever be a friend – take it like the medicine and fake what you need to fake.”
Sailors & Ships is the solo project of Jeremy Wheatley. Jeremy is an Athens drummer and local legend. He has performed and recorded with Crooked Fingers, Eric Bachmann, Cracker, Palace Doctor, Blue Blood, Drew Beskin, Ruby the Rabbitfoot and dozens of others bands.
Sailors & Ships is Jeremy’s debut album where he is front and center singing and performing his own songs.
