Following on from a string of releases and his debut EP “Little Love” last year – singer-songwriter James Smith has blazed a path through the pop landscape last year, achieving similarly eye-popping numbers for his recent releases “T-shirts” and “Tell Me That You Love Me”. The rising musician now releases his first new track of the year with the emotive, delicate “Hailey”. Watch here
Speaking on the track, James states: “’Hailey’ is a song I wrote about someone I know; someone who was scared to show any emotion and open up to others. They’d done so before and ended up getting hurt. I knew I had to write this song, although the lyrics might seem simple, there’s a lot of meaning and realness about them. I find it fascinating that as human beings: we instinctively fight to survive. This seems to translate in love too. Hailey is someone who fights to keep her heart intact, pushing away her opportunities to be happy. Sometimes it’s worth taking the chance on someone.”
Born in Upton Park and still only 19 with his first EP in the bag and a successful sold-out debut show at London’s Borderline in March, James comes through with a standout new single to open 2019.
