Hotly tipped singer, songwriter and producer Astræa has released her new single, ‘Don’t Let Go’ following her spellbinding show at London’s St James’s Church last night. Listen here
Touching and ethereal vocals and subtle piano slowly build into the chorus, which swells with heartfelt passion and reassurance; an anthem for those in need of comfort and consolation, and which conveys a much needed message of openness around the issues of mental heath.
“’Don’t Let Go’ was inspired by people in my life who have dealt with mental health issues,” says Astræa. “The majority of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. We need to be talking more about how mental health affects every one of us. By bringing it out into the open, we can start to end the stigma and help those who are struggling feel less alone.”
‘Don’t Let Go’ follows the release of her debut single, ‘Anybody Out There’, a poignant ode to love, compassion and companionship, or – in so many cases – the lack of it, and its accompanying video, which paints a stark picture of the realities of homelessness.
Astræa is a classically trained pianist and an accomplished songwriter and producer, whose voice may be familiar from her reinterpretation of Olive’s ‘You’re Not Alone’, used in the current Lloyds Bank TV advert, which she arranged, produced and performed.
Astræa has been tipped by many tastemakers and featured in The Sun’s ‘Sound of 2019’ list at the start of the year.
