INTERVIEW: DARKO

HI guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

DARKO: Doing great! Just returned from Austin for SXSW and heading down to Winter Music Conference in Miami the end of the month. Our Girl Mahkenna is having a b-day B=bash this month as well. It’s gonna be an EPIC month.

Can you talk to us about your latest single “Ready for love”?

Mahkenna: Yes. It has to be one of my favorite songs that i have worked on so far for sure. It’s about trusting your instincts and being able to take the next step with something new, it’s got a really good vibe in the lyrics and melody that took a whole new direction with DARKO. It really puts you in another place.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

DARKO: The song was actually written by a good friend of ours Alicia Madison, she and Mahkenna were working on some songs together and this one just connected with Mahkenna.

Any plans to release a video for the song?

Mahkenna: Yes. We have this trippy looking lyric video to put out, it came out super dope!

How’s the recording and writing process?

Mahkenna: In this song we had a total of 4-6 people involved in the process, and every one of us wants to get the best of all our talents, and see if we can make something awesome. I think the icing on the cake was working with DARKO to get the track i’ve always wanted.

What do you guys normally look for in collaborating with someone?

DARKO: Sometimes its planned and other times its totally random but it all happens at the right moment with great inspiration.

Does this single mean more to come? ‘

DARKO:  Yes! We have our single with DESTRUCTO and Ice T “Hustler” dropping the 27th of this month, along with a killer record with Christina Milian dropping in April and we even have a few more songs with Mahkenna dropping later this year and some other epic surprises.
