The music industry has become saturated with the same. Times are tough, and the music we listen to on the radio does not reflect it. Sometimes you just need to break something.
Katmaz has returned with the release of “I’m Done” with a music video to follow. It is an Anti-Pop song that begins slow, dark, and full of angst. Opening with only a synthesizer, Katmaz belts his complaints over a megaphone, only to pull away from the distortion. He clearly, and calmly states, “Fuck it, I’m done.” Watch here
We are hit with raging guitars, heavy drums, and a thumping bass. A musical interpretation of the lyrics he just sung. This intense reaction slows to a second verse. This time around, the refrain is cut short by a synth-based bridge representing an interruption of uncertainty, culminating in an angry, guttural, guitar solo. Tympanis ring under the heavy sound, signifying a war march and a change to come.
Katmaz is a Brooklyn based artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, and has worked with Grammy noms, SZA and Ro James. He is currently working with up and comer Moxie Raia. His brand of music is cinematic, art pop with a serious edge, and he’s ready to release several singles culminating in an EP by the end of the year.
