INTERVIEW: Byron Gindra

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “The One”?

The One is close to my heart as it is my first single, the song is especially sentimental to me as it represents the first time I get to share my passion and purpose with the world, and it’s just the beginning, things are only gonna bigger and better from here! The one is suitable for all audiences and whether you’re in a club, whether you’re driving to work in the morning or having a casual get together with your family or friends, it can be enjoyed whenever, wherever!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No, it wasn’t any particular event, more just a specific time in my life where I was turning my dreams into a reality and things were slowly starting to fall into place, my music, love, family etc. I was just inspired in general.

How do you want to be remembered by fans?

I want to be remembered as a kid from South Africa who had one dream and has turned that dream to a reality, when so many people told me it couldn’t be done, I did it and I’m going to do so much more. I want my fans to know anything can be done, anything can be achieved even if it feels impossible, as long as you set your mind to it and truly believe in yourself, anything can happen.

What’s your favorite quote?

Born to do what can’t be done.

How your upbringing has influence your writing?

As a child, I didn’t always fit in and often got bullied. As I grew older and learned how to defend myself, how to behave and how life works, I channeled that anger and all those emotions I had as a kid and put it into my music. You won’t hear about my past in ‘The One’, it’s more of a love song, but you definitely will hear about my past and experiences in my future singles/ albums.

How Justin Bieber has influenced your music?

He showed me that I could be a young artist and make a big wave in the world. I saw myself in him from a very young age. He made me believe if he could do it, why couldn’t I?

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, 100%. There are two more singles that will be released in the upcoming months. I am super excited about them!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I’m looking at the Spring time for my next single.

Any plans to hit the road?

There is nothing planned short term.

What else is happening next in Byron Gindra’s world?

At the moment, I’m just working on new material, spending time with my loved ones, doing things I love like surfing and skateboarding and of course, always making music and doing everything I can to better myself as an artist and person.
