Hi VENTS! We’ve been great. Releasing new stuff always feels great. A peek into our world, if you will.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Looking For”?
The ultimate goal for our newest single Looking For, was to create some sort of contrast to our latest single Such a Thing. We wanted to move towards the spine of the project once again – creating the chill, gloomy and yet danceable vibes we love.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Like some of the other material Looking For is not based on events like relationships or other events. A cold April morning and a sudden musical idea on the acoustic guitar was more or less the catalyst, and the starting point for the rest of the song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Unfortunately, it is not something that’s underway as we speak – would be awesome though. If the right idea pops up, that is. On the other hand, without revealing too much we are releasing a video for the first single “After Me” in the near future. Stay tuned.
How was the recording and writing process?
We recorded the single at a place called “Lydhavnen” in Århus with our partner in crime, Anders Bold. He’s the producer of the forthcoming EP and the single Such A Thing. The process was rather typical for our way of working. Thorbjørn usually comes up with something and introduces the idea for the rest of band and then we write and arrange the song together.
What role does Norway play in your music?
Norway doesn’t play a role in particular. It’s more like the Scandinavian sound as a whole, that inspires us. Names like Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Sleep Party People, or Cancer, to name a few, are bands that represents the Scandinavian sound – that cold, yet cozy vibe.
How Air and Tame Impala has influenced your writing?
They are just two bands out many that has influence on the writing. But of course, we can’t deny the influence of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. The influence his album “Currents” had on almost every artist both in terms of production and songwriting was huge and still is.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yeah. Bit by bit we are releasing what will become our debut EP.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Maybe around spring or summer.
Any plans to hit the road?
What else is happening next in Bear With Me’s world?
Right now, Thorbjørn is backpacking around India gathering inspiration. The rest of us are busy playing shows at home in our other bands and projects. But as soon Thorbjørn is back we will begin planning a tour, and maybe generating new material as well.
