The Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and former Black Dub frontwoman has never shied away from blurring boundaries and defying genres. For her third solo album ‘Lacuna’ Trixie collaborated with producer Little Shalimar, one of the men behind the sound of hip-hop super duo Run The Jewels.

Trixie Whitley is the real deal. A true artist, more concerned with mining deep emotional truths than fashions or conceits. Making Lacuna with her was deeply gratifying and I consider it one of the artistic highlights of my life. I’m very excited to share it with the world. »

On this album Trixie Whitley is pulling her soul into a future world thru a fascinating and heady blend of hi-fi electronics, hypnotic rhythms and her signature vocals. ‘Lacuna’ adds another exciting layer to Trixie’s already remarkable career and life path.

Today also marks the release of ‘Long Time Coming’, Trixie Whitley’s new single and the second installment on the trilogy ‘The Space Inbetween’ that she’s created in conjunction with director Hannah Marshall. Marshall is known for a black, monochromatic aesthetic and her work with bands such as The xx, Florence and The Machine, Savages and Goldfrapp.

For me the new album is all about perception, possibility and the imagination. ‘Long Time Coming’ is largely about the tension which can exist between two individuals. It is an ode to the departures and new beginnings which often occur at the same time, an observation of this rich yet challenging process we experience when going through changes and transitions. I’ve always been intrigued by the space between opposing elements which may seem like a void but contains a well of information – that’s why I’m calling the album ‘Lacuna.’ »

Trixie Whitley will be touring throughout 2019 in support of ‘Lacuna’. She’ll be kicking off the tour in home-town New York on April 16 at Le Poisson Rouge before joining dEUS on a month-long tour in the UK and Europe. She’s also announced headline shows in Germany, Holland and Belgium in May, including 2 shows at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, the first of which was sold out in a matter of days. More info:
