Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Leave The Light On”
This single has a soft spot in my heart, from the moment beth and I wrote this song, I knew in my gut that it was a special one. It’s about that moment of vulnerability, complete trust and rawness with your partner that everyone searches for. Your soulmate if you will, that person who makes you feel like home, that you can be your compete authentic self with. Whether it’s love at first sight or years in the making this song is a beautiful representation of what people long for.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Honestly no, my friend Beth and I were just talking about how she has found the love of her life, her soulmate, and talking about how I wanted to find that one day!
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes we are currently in the process of doing a video 🙂
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process was amazing, I always find it so magical to watch all these musicians do what they are born to do, I’m always in awe of their talent and kindness that makes you feel like instant family. The writing process was also amazing, it was one of those songs that kinda just wrote itself, from Beth and I talking about love and life, to all the sudden us writing this song in just a few hours.
What role does Nashville play in your music?
It plays a huge role in my music, though I write most all my songs up here in Canada with some extremely underrated writers, I take all my songs down to Nashville where we get to put a magical spin on these songs, which every time brings me to tears watching and hearing all of my babies growing up! Going from a blank piece of paper to these songs that you now get to hear. It’s an amazing process im so lucky to be able to do!
How do you go on balancing your classic influences with your much modern ones?
I think that it’s so important to have influences from the past but also in the present, but at the same time to be your authentic self and to create your own sound.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
Absolutely! Currently in the process of finishing up another handful of songs that i’m so excited to share with you all very soon!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Can’t tell the secret yet, but plans are in the works that I will share as soon as I can!
Any plans to hit the road?
At the moment no, but plans can change, and I would love to tour!
What else is happening next in ETA world?
Hm… my world is a giant balancing act, from being a full time mom of a 5 year old, to being a musician, hairdresser/makeup artist from home, to taking on an online business that i’m SO excited about! Is it always easy no, but i’m all about changing perspectives and helping others either feel beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside!
