Can you talk to us more about your latest single “My Butter”?

Lilian: My Butter is a song that epitomises hope, strength and belief in oneself.

Vivian: Its a mid tempo Afro pop record that resonates that feel good vibe.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Lilian: Not particularly, however this song comes as a reminder for us as independent artists to continue to persevere with our craft and passion for music.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Vivian: It was a successful day, we had a great team of people to work with and we all worked well with what we had.

How was the recording and writing process?

Lilian: It was an amazing writing collaboration with a good friend of ours who is a great song writer.

Vivian: We have an amazing producer who understands us and understands our sound. He’s always pushing us to be and sound better, so the process of recording is always very enjoyable, full of a lot of energy and creativity.

What role does Lagos play in your music?

Vivian: Lagos plays a huge role in our music as it is a huge pot of creativity, We get inspired by the people, the sounds, the experiences and the food, so that makes creating music so much more meaningful.

Lilian: We were born in Lagos, so doing what we love in the place of our birth, always gives us a sense of fulfilment.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?

Lilian: Not at all. We usually go by what feels good to us and how the beat sounds.

How your upbringing has influence your writing?

Vivian: Being born in Lagos and growing up in Reading, meant that we can infuse different sounds into our music. So we have the best of both worlds.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Lilian: Yes, definitely expect new music from us real soon and through out the year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Vivian: Not at the moment, but definitely expect some good music.

Any plans to hit the road?

Lilian: Yes definitely, we’re always looking out for performance opportunities.

What else is happening next in El’Vee’s world?-

Vivian: Definitely a lot of new music, performances and growing as artists.

Lilian: The plan is world domination, definitely.
