Hi Chase, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey! Thank you guys for having me. I’ve been well, just working on a lot of content as of late.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Nostalgia”?
So the single pretty much tells the story of a rising singer who tries his hardest to balance love and sudden fame. As things start to pick up for him, the singer’s current relationship becomes strained and with everything on the line, he’s desperately in need to remind her that she’s just as important as his career.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The song came along with inspiration from several encounters. My best records are scenarios in which I’ve been in or close enough to describe.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Absolutely! With this record, I definitely want to put together a detailed visual that gives this story more clarity.
How was the recording and writing process?
So with this record; I wrote, recorded and produced it. I think in doing so, I was able to really get intimate and personal considering I handled everything myself. Whenever I have sessions like these, I try to tap into my vulnerability and present a super honest project.
How do your Latin and Caribbean roots influence your music?
I think growing up listening to those styles play a huge part in my diversity. I’m able to experiment and record so many different sounding records and I owe a huge part to those sides of me.
How do you go on balancing all the different genres you get to play with?
I don’t think too much of it. I think it’s a gift, to be able to mix and blend so many elements of music. I think the variety and creative expression I present in my stuff is because I want to touch a lot of people that listen to more than just the usual. I think I’m able to reach any type of vibe and mood and just try to give the listener everything.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
Not necessarily. I follow my formula for every record, whether a joint single or individual.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on development and content, rather than releasing early on. I think the time away to build a collection of songs was the best thing I could’ve ever done. I think this time around; I’m more honest, relatable and personal. I shied away from that early on.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
I want to get into a habit of releasing more often. I don’t have specific dates in mind at the moment but will definitely be more active when it comes releasing songs.
Any plans to hit the road?
Definitely! I’ve always dreamt about touring and can’t wait!
What else is happening next in CHASELAVISH’s world?
At the current moment, I’m just recording a ton of stuff. I think the biggest thing I’m doing at the moment is just preparing myself for the future. I cherish the opportunity to inspire and connect with so many people all over the world. The honor to have fans that you can help, influence and love keeps me going everyday.
