Ne-Yo Unloads New Music For Youtube’s, Step Up – High Water S2

Produced by Lionsgate, Youtube Premium’s hit series Step Up – High Water (based off the successful film franchise) is back for season 2 with its music taking center stage. Grammy award-winning artist, Ne–Yo is a series regular and plays, Sage, a megastar entertainer, and artist. To add to his character, Ne–Yo wrote 3 original songs, the first one being “Genisis.”

To set the scene, this season kicks off with Ne–Yo (Sage) gearing up for his world tour. “Genesis ” is the opening number that reflects on his life’s journey – growing up in Atlanta to becoming a superstar. Taking inspiration from classic sounds, “Genisis” is the sonic embodiment of past to present.

If you’re not familiar with the Step Up franchise, it chronicles the world of hip-hop dance. Castmates take it to the streets and prestigious art schools, battling it out with the hottest dance choreography for the coveted spot of being number one. With so much movement, music is essential to the story of the show. That’s why it was imperative to have a stellar songwriter such as Ne–Yo behind this season’s biggest jams.
