The bonds of deep friendship and trust are the foundations and inspiration for Daniel Donskoy’s debut single “Cry by the River”. Creating a world where you could meet up with a friend, sit down and cry together with no fear of it being construed as weakness, never scared to be vulnerable with each other.
The song went #1 on German Amazon with just pre-orders and premiered on January 25th, 2019 with Daniel’s live performance on Germany’s 2nd largest talk show, NDR. The song is now at more than 70K organic Spotify streams in just over a month and recently helped Daniel peak at 22K monthly listeners.
Born in Russia, Daniel grew up in Berlin and Tel Aviv and studied drama & music in London. Schooled in piano by his Russian grandmother, as a teenager he broke free from the strictness of his traditional upbringing. Drawn to the bright lights of Tel Aviv, he began writing his own songs and after a few tries at different schools, he landed a scholarship at the Arts Education School in London.
After graduating in 2014, he went straight into theatre, followed by roles on British television. In Germany, he became popular overnight with his lead role in the series “Sankt Maik“, roles in “Tatort” and a starring role in Dror Zahavi’s feature film “Crescendo” (to be released in 2019). He is a cosmopolitan wanderer who feels at home wherever he is.
In Daniel’s own words, “it never feltlike a conscious decision to start sharing my inner thoughts and feelings with an audience. Sometimes this will happen as an actor, other times as a musician. We’re dealing with emotions, so why limit yourself if emotions are the most limitless thing we’ll ever get to know.”
