Thanks for having us Vents! We’ve been doing great, thanks!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Take Me Home”?
So we dropped Take Me Home on January 1st and it’s a fun little song about the beginning of love, the “honeymoon phase” where everything is perfect and you’re just blinded by feelings. It’s also one of our favorites to play live!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Take Me Home isn’t based off any event in particular but I can totally say I’ve been in the honeymoon phase and when I was writing the lyrics for Take Me Home I tried to put my self back in that phase to make it as authentic as possible.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We actually did release a video for single! It was filmed at ZinRecords and we did a Weekend At Bernie’s themed video for it. It was lots of fun!
Why naming the album after this track in particular?
Take Me Home was written after our June tour and while we are always writing, something about Take Me Home really felt special so it we kept writing and when it was time to make an EP we felt Take Me Home deserved to be the lead single and title.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process was great cause half of the song was written in a bedroom at a house party and the rest was written in a hotel in Nashville which was something we never did before, and that was really cool. Recording it in Nashville was also a great experience and one we hold close to us.
What was it like to work with Rian Dawson and how did that relationship develop?
Recording with Rian and his assistant Dan was amazing. They’re both insanely talented and we’re lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with them. They’re both such down to earth guys who enjoy making music and the few days we spent with them were filled with music, La Croix and jokes. Doesn’t get any better than that!
How much did he get to influence the album?
Rian had a huge influence on the album. He is so smart and he would make little suggestions that you wouldn’t think would make a huge difference in the song but in after you record it and listen back to you hear how much it adds and now I can’t imagine the song without some of his little touches. He truly is a master of his craft.
What role does NYC play in your music?
Ironically for a Pop Rock/ Pop Punk band, we love our town haha. The music scene here is killer and we’re so grateful for everyone who gave us a shot here when we first started.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Inspiration can come at the most random times, and usually when you’re not looking for it. I find being out of my element forces me to be the most creative I can be.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! Lots of tours are being planned as we speak. Can’t wait to hit the road again!!
What else is happening next in Times Like These’s world?
We are playing two shows on the island before we announce a tour! The first show is with With Confidence and the second show is with Oh, Weatherly and we’re so excited for both! Do what you love and love what you do!!
