David Gray Lends Voice to Dervish’s “The West Coast of Clare”

Beloved Irish folk group Dervish enlisted a remarkable array of guest vocalists and musicians for their new album The Great Irish Songbook, including acclaimed Welsh singer-songwriter David Gray. The album, which will be released on April 12, was produced by Graham Henderson (Sinéad O’Connor).

Gray’s stark, contemplative interpretation of “The West Coast of Clare” powerfully conveys the longing and heartbreak of a lost love. The song, written by Andy Irvine, was first recorded by legendary folk quartet Planxty (of which Irvine was a founding member, along with Dónal Lunny, Christy Moore, and Liam O’Flynn) and is regarded as a modern classic of the Irish traditional music canon. The track is available today via all digital service providers. The album is available for pre-order here: Pre-Order
