INTERVIEW: Emin

Hi Emin, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Really great thank you, busy and very happy.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Let Me Go”?

It’s a simple concept really.  It’s about a relationship that’s fading but you can still save it or let your loved one go. It’s always a choice.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

The writing of it came about organically in the studio.  I think it’s something that everyone can relate to.

How was the recording and writing process?

I love writing and recording music and all the creativity that comes with that.  It’s a joy.

What role does Russia play in your music?

The Russian market has really transformed, and that transformation has given me a chance to launch my own label; Zhara Music along with a music festival, a music channel and a radio station.

What was it like to work with Robin Schulz and how did that relationship develop?

As we were in the studio writing and demoing the song, it felt as if it had a Robin Schulz type vibe to it.  So, we sent it off to him and fortunately he loved it and wanted to collaborate.  We couldn’t be happier with the result.

What did he bring to the table in regard to the creative process?

Robin’s taken the song to a different level.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with or remixing someone else rather than on your own?

It all starts with a good song – that’s always been the key for me.  The rest unfolds from there.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, new singles will definitely be coming.  There’s a song in production with another fantastic collaboration that will be out later this year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The next release may be a song called Canonball, we haven’t locked in the date quite yet.

Any plans to hit the road?

Some European dates will be on the map for this year including a few shows in Germany toward the end of the summer and then the plan is to do a world tour next year.

What else is happening next in Emin’s world?

In terms of future projects, I’m continuing to develop my Zhara brand which includes a radio station, music channel, music award and festival, music and sports event and my record label. And also, one of the most exciting projects is the new Zhara energy drink, which is a very fresh, new, cool project for us.
