Huntly Release New Single “Giving Circle”

“Giving Circle” is the fourth remarkable single from Huntly’s debut album Low Grade Buzz (to be released via Barely Dressed Records on March 15). This is Huntly at their most accessible – opening with a legato wash of dreamy choral harmonies before a beat drops and we find ourselves transported to a world of flawless RnB – all lean energy and dance sensibility. To encapsulate a lovelorn feeling, Huntly brought in a group of friends to the studio one night to form the “Huntly Choir.” Where other writers would reach for empty platitudes, lead singer Elspeth digs deep with critical self-reflection singing “I’ll admit that I wanted to hate you” as the choir moves in harmonic union underneath. It sets a lush but sombre mood before a trademark groove from producers Andy and Charlie takes the lead and the party begins.

As singer Elspeth explains, “Giving Circle is a pop tragedy, combining rawness and intimacy with movement and energy. It’s about dread, loneliness, and how we shift and adjust to our social landscapes after the end of a relationship.”

For those playing at home and listening veeeerry carefully, the outro transition is an ode to Christina Aguilera’s “Can’t Hold Us Down,” with evocative vocal ad libs sifting in and out of an offbeat groove and pulsing synth line.

“Giving Circle” will be the final single released by Huntly before the release of their beautifully constructed and deeply personal debut album Low Grade Buzz – to be released on March 15th.

Working between the margins of pop, R&B, techno and drum & bass, the album is full of satisfying hooks and thumping codas. Low Grade Buzz is available for pre-order now – both digitally and on limited edition blue vinyl.
