Sylvette are a 5 piece Art-Rock band based in Manchester taking influence from the likes of Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel and Jeff Buckley to create an imaginative and powerful sound. They use unconventional song structures and surreal yet emotive lyrics to take listeners on an intriguing journey. They named the band after one ofPicasso’s most famous muses after lead singer, Charlie saw a painting of her in Barcelona. After further research Charlie found that Sylvette is now in her 80’s and an artist herself. Charlie got in contact and an unlikely friendship began. She kindly let the band use one of her paintings as the artwork for their debut album. Their relationship continues to blossom as lead singer Charlie recently performed with a string quartet at Sylvette’s art exhibition at the Mall Gallery in London.

The band met in Manchester while studying music at the RNCM but they have all come from totally different backgrounds and musical influences which is showcased in the material. The group is made up of 5 incredibly varied and talented musicians with a flair for the theatrical and artistic.

Charlie Sinclair (vocals, guitar and main songwriter) comes from a family of actors and uses his theatrical background in his live performances, including a tour with New Order in 2018. Philippos Rousiamanis (violin and keys) is a highly respected composer who grew up in rural Greece to a family of gypsies, Pete (drums) is born and bred in Manchester with influences from alternative electronic music and jazz to creates a sound that shakes up Sylvette from a traditional rock band, Dan Macfarlane from Jersey (guitarist) is an established musician with an ear for musicality on all instruments, especially in the studio and bass obsessed Ashley Garrod (bass) from Somerset who is obsessed with quality music and was the first to work with Charlie to create what is now, Sylvette.

New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham has taken Sylvette under his wing alongside his fellow Bad Lieutenant band mate and producer Jake Evans and together they have produced the bands 4 new singles.

Memories (falling) was written about character who lost his mind after discovering that life outside of his insular world wasn’t anything like it was made out to be. To cope with this, he goes deep inside his mind and creates a world of his own that is far desirable than reality.

To reflect this in the video, the lead character who is played by a handmade puppet is held captive by his parents to keep him away from the reality of life. When he faces the shocking reality that he was made identical to thousands of other puppets he takes matters into his own hands.
