SADSUN is perhaps a contradictory word in itself – two sides of the same coin; one a lugubrious implication that makes you want to dress down and cry; the other, a ray of light that will encourage you to dress up and dance.
Founded by talented musicians, Aimy Miller (vocals/production) and Simon Atkinson (synths/guitar/production), this SADSUN is a moody pop band out of Newcastle U.K who blends uplifting vintage pop sensibilities and brooding introspective lyricism with a cinematic backdrop. This is summertime pop drowning in melancholy.
Boasting a modern sheen while paying testament to a time gone by, both Aimy and Simon have backgrounds in metal music – Aimy as singer and keyboardist with She Must Burn and Simon as guitarist with Nexilva. As a result, SADSUN isn’t any ordinary synth-pop showdown, but one that has addictively delirious energy throughout, perfectly setting the milieu for the future releases from the band.
Speaking of their debut single, ‘Control,’ a song about a feeling of lack of control, SADSUN explains,
“Control is about the suffocating feeling induced from overwhelming routines and the responsibilities that day to day life can bring on. When you’re drowning in feelings of pain with the weight of life tied at your feet, you can lose all purpose and control of your life.”
