Music Industry In Modern Times: A Look

Without music, life would be a mistake. This is a quote that has defined music since the beginning of time. Music did not begin with radio or the iPod. It can be traced back to the Stone Age. Studies show that the first musical instrument dated back 40,000 years ago. The first bone flute which was found in Slovakia was the first step in music technology.

The Evolution of Music

Music can merely be defined as a collection of notes which are put together to sound good.  Music can be found in every part of the world and every culture. The evolution of music can date back to when our ancestors used to walk around making sounds with or without instruments, but that is what has led us here today.

It was in the 1750s that classical music captivated everyone. Classical music is one of the oldest genres in the world, and it has stood the test of time. However, at the beginning of the 1900 other music genres began taking root.

For instance Jazz, Samba and Sitar were highly popular at that time. In 1946 the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley made Rock one of the most significant genres in the world. Then in the 1980s, a group of hippies had their sound, and in 1990s RnB and Rap changed the whole game.

Every music genre which you have heard of has a history that you should know. However, we won’t talk about that today.

Music of modern times

Over the past couple of decades, the music industry has changed in more ways than we can imagine. This includes how the music is made, the sound, videos and how it is pushed in the market. In 1994 Geffen Records was the first record label to introduce music as a downloadable file.  From there on other websites and music apps came about such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.

At first, if you were an artist, you had to push your music by selling CDs. If you were in luck, then a record label would help you promote your music. However with the emergence of music websites then you can pay a fee of about $50 and they will push your music for you. But what happens when you don’t have that fee to pay to those music websites? You don’t have to panic YouTube is here for the rescue.

YouTube gives you a chance to showcase your music, and all you have to do is create an account which is free. Then you can post your music for free, and the best part is that you can get paid depending on the number of views you get. Best of all, science proves that music can work wonders to your health, so its no surprise that we have so many addicted to it.

The music industry is changing. If you are looking to make a career in this industry, then you need to keep up with the music trends.
