Hey, how you doing? We’re very happy about our next release and being here with you sharing some words…
Can you talk to us more about your song “Spaced Out”?
We’re very proud of this track… it reflects perfectly our sound, the vibe and the atmosphere that it gives is really near to the things that we feel. It was the track that make us think about making this EP.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Back then we used to be in the studio for hours, so this track comes from trying different things and experimenting a lot with our gear. At the end we’ve things going on inside of us and this track it’s an example of that.
Any plans to release a video for the track (or other tracks)?
Not at the moment, we’re more focused on our live show and making music.
The single comes off your new album Silk Holds Everything on Beautiful Accident – what’s the story behind the title?
It reflects our own experiences, our daily life, fears, doubts, thoughts… the fact of getting up early, go to work and come back home to keep doing what we love to do… the music for us it’s like our balance, the thing that keeps everything up.
How was the recording and writing process?
Well, as we said, our tracks comes out of trying different things and playing with our gear, we love that, that energy that is created in our space…We make a palette of different sounds and we put it together, we always know when a track is going to be completed and when it isn’t, so, when this happens we start to set up things, a bit of mixing… that’s kind of it.
Did other DJs/Producers influence to your music? Which ones?
Bonobo it’s probably our main one, but we’ve a lot of influences of producers like Dauwd, Floating Points, Kiasmos, Moderat…
What role does Barcelona play in your particular sound?
Barcelona is a city with a high creativity level, so this means that you’ve to be focused on your craft to really stand out. This city has definitely made us grow as an artists. Also being in touch with different producers is something that helps you to share ideas and increase your motivation.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs?
Basically we found inspiration in the studio, working, it comes from there mainly, but we also found it on our daily life and in the atmosphere/ambient around us. We believe that in the end the major part of our music comes from the different situations and experiences that we live.
Any plans to hit the road?
Of course, we’re truly focused on doing live shows in Barcelona and the rest of the country.
What else is happening next in SUMLUV’s world?
We’ve planned to finish up some things and then release more material at the end of this year.
