Sonia Stein reveals her new single and video for ‘Party’

Rising singer and songwriter Sonia Stein is back with her new gorgeous pop offering ‘Party’ , produced by Ben Jones (Kelly Rowland, Tinie Tempah, Mary J Blige). Remixes will be incoming from celebrated producer Tobtok  and Charles Jay on February 8th 2018.

Party’ tells the story of a personal experience Sonia had a few years ago, when a guy she was seeing totally cut off contact one day after an intense  2-month relationship. In her own words,

Party is about wanting an explanation, wondering why someone would make such a big deal of something and let it go without feeling the need to say goodbye or explain. I was dealing with the humiliation and shock of having the rug pulled from under me and was imagining  a metaphorical party I would host to commemorate what I thought was a memorable experience that I didn’t feel was honoured.’

The nostalgic 80’s flick-style video for ‘Party’ is directed by Aaron Bevan-Bailey and was mainly inspired by the lyrics of the song, “let’s have a slow dance, like we did on the tube”.  As a result  ‘Party’ is set on a tube train as the setting for both real flashbacks of the relationship and dream sequences of the imaginary party and was filmed at the Pumphouse Transport Museum in Walthamstow.  The video deftly weaves in lyrics from the song in a visual representation of the dress mentioned in the chorus, confetti and a birthday cake as elements of a party. Sonia’s partner in the video even wears a jacket that says, “I’m sorry I lied”.
