Kicking off the year in style, Glaswegian indie-rock four-piece LUCIA release their new single Blue Heart on February 1st through Sweet Jane Recordings. Produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele) and mixed by Charlie Holmes and Mark “Spike” Stent (Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Muse, Arcade Fire, Florence, Lady Gaga) Blue Heart is brimming with energy. It’s a powerful return from LUCIA who were hailed one of NME’s 100 for 2019.
Speaking about the new single front woman Lucia Fairfull explains, “Blue Heart is about the frustration you feel when someone close to you is trapped in a toxic relationship that they are too scared to let go of.”
Blue Heart is the follow up to LUCIA’s Cheap Talk EP,which wasreleased in November ‘18. Also produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence) the EP features their critically acclaimed singlesSummertime and Cheap Talk. Having already clocked up over a million streams, it had support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens who exalted“this is as good as indie gets”, and Phil Taggart plus BBC Introducing, Radio X, Amazing Radio amongst others.
After an incredible 12 months for the Scottish band, 2019 is set to be a MASSIVE year for LUCIA. Having played just shy of 100 gigs in 2018 with; 19+ festival dates; including SXSW, TGE, Latitude, TRNSMT Boardmasters, Neighbourhood to name a few, plus UK support tours with We Are Scientists and Estrons and closing the year out by playing BBC Introducing’s Great Escape First Fifty showcase in London, which aired on Huw Stephen’s Radio 1 show on Sunday evening things continue apace in 2019 with an another intense period of live activity including; Radar Festival, SXSW, Hit The North, The Great Escape and supportingMarsicans on Abbie McCarthy’s Good Karma Club tour in April.
