Athens Indie Rockers Deep State Release “Son” Video via FLOOD – LP out 2/1

Athens, Georgia four-piece Deep State is gearing up for the quickly approaching release of their latest album with a highly anticipated preview – lead single “Son” is now streaming via FLOOD Magazine along with its visual pair. The crunchy, rolling melody pairs perfectly with the all-too-familiar Floridian retiree road trip, making for a fun watch, filmed by Ethan Payne. Fitting somewhere between the historic rosters of indies like Merge and Fat Possum, Deep State flaunts both the speed and playful sound of typical garage rock while maintaining a deliberate tightness and control of their sound.

The lyrical content of the new album goes deeper and darker than before, fitting for the current era. “Son,” explains Taylor Chmura, touches on the relations between generations.“Inherent desire to instill wisdom into someone younger, on one hand, could be helpful, while on the other hand, it could be selfish. If the elder is inspired by a void in themselves, let’s consider it misguided. Alternatives, mundanities, and side roads…often these are the bonds between generations.”

Deep State’s The Path to Fast Oblivion will be released next Friday, February 1 – keep your eyes peeled for tour dates and more!
