Baroque pop singer/songwriter Valerio Lysander releases new official music video for his single “Little People”, extracted from his album “We Are Like Coloured Moths Towards The Sunlight”. Watch here
The song, musically inspired by the 1st movement of Mozart’s Sonata in F major, K. 332, features epic string and operatic choir arrangements, with Valerio’s vocals starting off gently, and slowly soaring stronger upon architected arrangements and sophisticated chord structures and tempo changes.
Lyrically, Little People revolves about the observation that humans have a tendency to lose touch with reality because of anxiety and stress and misplaced values.
Valerio thinks that “some people, especially in some big cities like London, tend to get swept up by responsibilities, running after success, money and all sorts of validation in external things, forgetting, or not realising, that real happiness can only come from inside.”
[Where is the happiness you were looking for? Where is the hope you’ve lost? The present will unfold]
He fuses his experience with mindfulness, buddhism and psychology with this concept, to give a little seed of hope at the end of the song. Thinking that “if we stay in the here and now and connect with each other with compassion our own lives will become brighter and happier.”
[As you walk past open your arms, dancing with the rain that pours, open doors. To find the light in your chest, illuminate]
The official music video for the song, inspired by Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire, sees four of the “little people” as they struggle in their daily life in the streets of a big city and are looked upon by some angels on rooftops. One of the angels gets down to the streets and connects with them to take them back to reality.
The single comes with a B-side track, an acoustic band cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River”, part of a one take session projects that will be released later this year and of which some videos have already been released on YouTube and as B-sides of previous singles (http://bit.ly/2CqjGGL)
