Ellis – the music project of Hamilton, Ontario’s Linnea Siggelkow, or L.S. – released her critically acclaimed debut EP entitled The Fuzz last Fall. Today, the artist announces that she has signed to Fat Possum, who will release The Fuzz physically for the first time onMarch 22nd. “I had no idea what to expect when I made this EP, other than that I felt really proud of the songs and wanted to release them into the universe,” explains Ellis. “It’s completely surreal to now be re-releasing them with one of my favourite record labels, and to see the EP pressed on vinyl. It’s an actual dream.” Pre-order The Fuzz HERE.
To celebrate the announcement, Ellis shares a gorgeous music video for Fuzz-standout “All This Time.” She says, “This song is really special to me and it’s about someone really special to me. It’s about being truly seen at the very core of your being. It’s a scary and beautiful thing, and I wanted to make a visual to match. With the help of my friends Andy Friesen and Ariel Bader-Shamai, a bunch of thrifted lace curtains and brass candlesticks, some mirrors and a prism, we made this video. My favourite thing about it is that I am wearing my aunt’s actual wedding dress that she made herself in the 70s.” Watch the music video now via The Fader HERE.
Ellis, the daughter of a traveling book salesman and a piano teacher, crafts music with a faint voice, a fervent guitar, and lyrics that are effortlessly and simultaneously vulnerable and bold. Built from simple instrumentation, the six-track release showcases Siggelkow’s full-formed artistic vision and deft songwriting skills, making for a singular statement from a young, up-and-coming artist who is poised for a reception that equals the scope of her remarkable talent.
Having already made her mark as a solo performer in the Hamilton DIY scene, Ellisevolved from a solo project into a 4-piece band in 2018, inspiring a grittier take on the same solemn refrain. In November 2018 she released her anticipated debut EP, The Fuzz. The EP arrived following several months of excitement building behind Ellis, who, after generating buzz in her local scene on the back of opening stints with the likes of Soccer Mommy, Gabby’s World, Chastity, Palehound, and Free Cake For Every Creature, garnered international acclaim with the release of a series of singles, earning comparisons to Mazzy Star, Alvvays and Slowdive.
