— I’ve been good, back in Amsterdam at the moment.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Walkin’ In The Rain”?
— It’s a song written in Amsterdam and recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The song is about leaving town knowing that things are unsettled and the feelings that come with it.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
— It was a week before I flew to America for a cross country road trip, and things between me and my girlfriend at the time were not going great. So I was walking on the streets of Amsterdam thinking about the situation.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
— Well, Darrel and I filmed a whole lot in Oregon but I kind of look like a potato so we aren’t using the video footage.
How was the recording and writing process?
— It was one of those songs that you finish in 15 minutes, recording: We started off with the vocals and acoustic guitar, and then just started adding layers. There was never a plan or idea how the end result would sound or what layers to add.
What role does Amsterdam play in your music?
— Amsterdam for me is the place to get back to after long trips. Feelings and emotions that might not have seen relevant on the road. The town strikes me when I’m sitting at my mom’s dinner table or a friends couch where I’m crashing. Even tho I don’t have a house or place, it’s always the closest to home.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
— Yes! Darrel and I are writing almost every day which always makes us have almost too much material, but there are definitely a lot of songs in the pipeline.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
— Yes! February 8th. The song is called Chain Gang and it’s more of a southern rock vibe.
Any plans to hit the road?
— Always! We might live in Portugal for a bit, we might fly to Bali. We’ll see.
What else is happening next in Robin Cause’s world?
— Honestly, no clue. Hopefully, it’ll be fun though.
