THE MOTET Releases Single “Highly Compatible” Today; New Album ‘Death Or Devotion’ Due Out January 25th

As The Motet prepare for the release of their latest studio album Death Or Devotion on January 25th, the Denver-based funk and soul ensemble have released their new single, “Highly Compatible.” The upbeat, disco-inspired song about falling in love, the album’s opener, hinges on an unshakable riff and raucous refrain upheld by sizzling sax. “It’s like that beautiful moment of falling in love where you recognize something as supremely real-life magic,” shares Lyle Divinsky (vocals). “Harry Potter couldn’t conjure a better spell. It’s the magnetic nature of the chemistry. We captured that chemical recognition.” CLICK HERE to listen to “Highly Compatible.”

Death Or Devotion earmarks an important point in The Motet’s journey. Since emerging in 1998, they’ve cooked up eight full-length albums and entranced countless crowds. 2016 saw them welcome Lyle behind the mic and Drew on sax. Shortly after, they kicked off what has become an annual tradition by selling out the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the second time. Along the way, The Motet started recording Death Or Devotion during intermittent sessions at Scanhope Sound in their native Colorado, in 2017. For the first time,LyleDrew, and Parris worked on a Motet record together from start-to-finish, and each member of the band brought something different to the mix with their own unique set of musical influences and styles. The collection of nine new songs finds the band pushing boundaries and breaking new ground, welcoming old fans and new audiences alike – continually providing a welcome escape for listeners.

The Motet kicks off their winter tour dates this weekend with shows in Aspen and Telluride. Then, following their performance on Jam Cruise 17 next week, the band will make their way across the country through mid-March hitting such markets as Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, Berkeley, Charlotte, Richmond, Washington, DCAtlanta and Nashville, among others. Additionally, The Motet will stop in Boston, Philadelphia and Brooklyn alongside fellow funk band Galactic, with whom they’ll also co-headline Red Rocks Amphitheatrewith on Friday, July 12.
