Hi Tina, welcome back to VENTS! How have you been?
Everything is fine, thank you! By the way, my son’s name is Ven! ???? It’s very nice to have an interview again!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sweet Love”? What made you want to re-write this song in particular?
The song was written long ago and became a big hit and a favorite track of many people in Ukraine. I wrote it under the impression of winning the contest “New wave”. Time passed and a new arrangement for this song was born. And then I wanted the English lyrics to be heard. I often listen to instinct, that’s why I decided to try to do it in English. This version immediately received feedback in the hearts of the fans and is on radio in Britain! If you feel something with your heart, then you need to take the right steps to make it happen.
Did the approach tend to change as you went for a new language and audience?
There is no difference for me. My goal is to delight and inspire and share emotions with my listeners all over the world no matter what language they speak.
How was the recording and re-writing process?
It was cute! We created the arrangement in my portable studio in my house. Anton Popov and Pavel Dremlyuzhenko were working on it and the lyrics were written by my friend Yana Mayornikova. Amongst such lovely company, the new version of this song was born! My inner challenge was to find a vocal arrangement for it, in this song I used the notes in the fourth octave.
What role does the UK play in your music?
When I arrive in Britain, I feel power, an impulse that is inherent only in this land. It has something extra special, a stream of inspiration and oneness with the nature. I love Britain so much!
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
Yes, it is always a connection. Invisible threads join you with a person with whom you create, your breathing adjusts to one rhythm as if you were born together. If you work long hours, even your habits become similar.
What musicians have influenced your sound?
I am a huge fan of music, in every way. I listen to all different artists and different styles! I like to listen to something that is completely different to what I write to discover new worlds.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new UK material – how’s that coming along?
Yes, and it means a lot to me. I will definitely be making you happy with the new tracks in future.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
There are no exact dates, but the next single should be with you for Spring!
Any plans to hit the road?
My plans are always ambitious, I’d love to do a tour with English tracks, but nothing has been confirmed yet. I’ve recently ended the “Intonations” tour in Ukraine throughout 77 cities. This is a show about faces of the female persona. The concept of the show is having multiple ‘copies’ of me to create an illusion within the dance performances. I am currently on a mini-tour in Ukraine with my Carol songs. I am sure that while traditions are still alive – the country is alive.
What else is happening next in Tina Karol’s world?
I am now the coach of “The Voice” in Ukraine and will spend much time with my team. I’m doing this project, writing new songs and working in the studio.
