Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
TMC: We have been great, wonderful new year, and looking forward to sharing our music with even more fans!
Can you talk to us more about your song “Straight Crazy”?
TMC: This is one of the songs we have a lot of fun with by changing up the opening, getting everybody to sing the chorus, and giving the audience a great song to connect with. It seems that almost everybody we talk with has similar experiences, and as the song says, “…I’ll keep one eye open when you’re beneath the sheets…” seems to resonate with most people–we all have been there.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
TMC: Yea, it was ‘inspired’ from a girlfriend of the lead singer. Not sure if we can really say much more than that. Catch him after the show, buy him a beer and he will tell you the story.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
TMC: We have discussed it, but are really focused this year in getting more music released.
Why naming the album after this track in particular?
TMC: Catchy title, at least we hoped.
How was the recording and writing process?
TMC: We love being in the studio, as it gives you a rare chance to just wholey focus on the music, listening, trying different versions, inflections and phrasings to see the impact. Between us, we have probably done hundreds of recording sessions of various types, and just love that feeling of finally putting something down and locking it in.
What role does DC play in your music?
TMC: All of us have spent a lot of time living, working, and performing in the DC area, and really enjoy the energy. There is really a sense of history here that you can’t get anywhere else, and that uniqueness, feeling, and overwhelming sense of place helps us keep the music focused on sharing our views on life with others.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
TMC: Difficult to say, as each song has some type of a prompt, connection or drive–some are from direct personal experience, others are from seeing trials and tribulations of others and wanting to share in their experience through music.
Any plans to hit the road?
TMC: Absolutely, we enjoy a fairly heavy schedule, and routinely work up and down the East coast to share our music with anybody we can!
What else is happening next in Dan Wolff & The Muddy Crows’ world?
TMC: We are focused on working on our next EP and releasing it in Spring, with additional ones later in the year.
