PREMIERE: maenu Release “Amulet”

Kicking and wrapping up our first premiere of the new year, we have maenu who has return with the release of their new eerie single “Amulet.” In the same vein as Fleurie and Lawless, the song blends pop and electronica into a perfect mix of harmonies that will haunt you right from the beginning and don’t let you go.

About the song, Madeline comments:

“’Amulet’ explores the idea of being on the other side of growing up. How satisfying it must feel to be who you’re meant to be after going through seemingly endless internal transformations. The song grew organically from the original instrumental idea that Kayla started. Madeline added lyrics and melody, and Angelina composed the guitar parts.”

Meinu is an all-female band whose music is a marriage of lyric-centered songwriting, organic instruments, and experimental electronic sounds. Its members, Kayla Cashetta, Angelina Torreano, and Madeline Mondrala, met while attending SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. Four years later they decided to meld their aesthetics to create the eclectic sound of “Meinu”.  Each member is an artist in their own right. Kayla is a composer and a recent winner of National Sawdust’s Hildegard Competition, Angelina is front woman of indie/grunge band Citris, whose latest single premiered on NPR’s “All Songs Considered”, and “Madelin” is a solo indie/pop artist whose latest music video premiered on Billboard. Meinu’s self-titled EP is a mix of trip-hop beats, inventive vocalizations, and electro pop synths. Their experimental arrangements and singer/songwriter roots blend together in the context of the modern pop song.
