This past Friday evening, John Fogerty joined Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler as their Surprise Guest at a fundraiser to benefit victims of the recent California wildfires. The sold-out event, dubbed “Judd & Adam & Friends,” took place at LA’s Largo at the Coronet with Julia Sweeney and Bo Burnham also joining in for the evening. Proceeds from the evening will go to the United Way for the Northern and Southern California fires.
FOGERTY’s band, which includes his son Shane Fogerty on guitar, was joined by Adam Sandler who grabbed his guitar to play on the Fogerty classics, “Green River” and “Born on the Bayou” which also appeared in Sandler’s movie, “The Waterboy”. Fogerty’s other son, Tyler, lent his vocal talent on the set as he frequently does during John’s shows.
FOGERTY said of the evening, “Ridiculous fun and a great cause to support the fire victims,” and then joked, “But Adam needs to take better care of his amps!” A reference to John’s mocked horror when Adam sat his open beer on top of his amp before joining in on the fun. You can see the moment on Fogerty’s Facebook post, HERE.
John Fogerty lives with his family within the once evacuated area of the Woolsey fire. His home sustained smoke damage but was otherwise unscathed during the November fires in the area.
